First Orwell uses irony to always keep the reader guessing. old major died in the beginning of the story. everyone loved old major. The irony in this was that readers would have though old major would have lived to see the rebellion but he didn't. snowball was run out of the farm. snowball was a nice leader he was teaching the animals how to read. the irony in this was that readers would have though snowball would have became leader but instead he was run out of the farm. Boxer had a terrible death. Boxer's two slogans were "napoleon is always right and i will work harder". The irony in this was that he was taken to a slaughter house when readers would have though he would have gotten to rest. Overall orwell used old major, boxer's deaths and snowballs forced exit to add irony to this story.
Then Orwell used symbolism to show readers what happens in real life. the whole story animal farm is a symbol. It showed us americans how russia was during world war 2. animal farm is a symbol for the terrible rule of stalin in russia. napoleon was the ruler of animal farm as stalin was the ruler of russia. napoleon killed lots of animals as stalin killed lots of people. the animals are a symbol of stalin's followers. the were made illeterate and dumb. in the story napoleon changed several commandments and the animals could not tell because the could not read.using animal farm overall, napoleon and the animals showed symbolism for what happened in russia.
Last Orwell used exaggeration to get his point across about what happens in real life. The animals were very gullible. the animals believed anything squeler said. In the story when the commandments were changed the animals did not protest because they believed squeler. the animals killings were very brutal. the descriptions of the animals killings were very detailed and exagerrated. in the story animals would confess to things and killed. Boxer's death was very morose. he was sent to a slaughter house to boiled down to make glue. the animals were lied to by squeler and told that boxer was sent to a hospital. despite the fact that they saw the van they still believed squeler. the exaggeration of the animals stupidity and the emphasis on the animals deaths showed the terrible conditions in rusia.
Using exaggeration, irony, andand symbolism george orwell criticized the conditions in russia.
The lesson to be learned from this story is that we should be careful on who we elect. we should elect leaders we can trust. we need to be aware of the changes our leader makes.
