Rough Draft On W.E.B Dubois

W.e.b DuBois helped change African American history. He did this by focusing on the twentieth century problem the color line. He wrote several books on how it was for black people in a society made for white people. He was the voice for black people from 1910 to the 1930's. He dared to challenge the white voice when other blacks just gave in. Dubois was a forerunner in the civil rights movement. many people looked up to him like Martin Luther King Jr, but there were also people he disagreed with like like Booker T. Washington and the NAACP.

The twentieth century problem was the color line Dubois wrote several book like The Philadelphia Negro and The Souls Of Black Folk.  These books were best sellers on this issue. The Philadelphia negro was not exactly a book it was a study of black people in Philadelphia. It talked a place were majority of blacks were free and how they lived. The souls of black people was about how he saw life through being a black person at that time.he also talked about what we as people needed to do to get past the color line and begin new life as equals.

Many people like martin Luther king looked up to Dubois. But Dubois also disagreed with some people. Dubois disagreed with Booker T. Washington because Booker believed blacks should have accept discrimination for the time being and elevate themselves through hard work and economic gain to win the respect of whites. Dubois it was time for a change then and that is why Dubois disagreed with Washington so very often.
Dubois also disagreed with Walter White, the head of the NAACP, when Du Bois suddenly penned articles that advocated voluntary segregation, maintaining that black children would receive a better education from black teachers. Du Bois resigned from the editorship of  the NAACP in 1934.

Dubois helped our history alot he was the voice for blacks when we were too scared to have one. Dubois is remembered today for his research and courage.
