Adults and children
http://www.ted.com/talks/adora_svitak.html
The ted video has a young girl speaking about adults learning from children.
The organization I work with is called Youth Action. Youth Action is a community service program for young people between the ages of 14-23. We have adult allies to help us with fundraising and planning. This organization gives teens the chance to do volunteering for the community. The members of youth action come up with service projects that they are interested in, we then implement the service project, we go out and volunteer! My Organization is an example of adults leaning from children.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears By: Jazmine Sullivan
Lions, Tigers, and Bears seems to be a simple RnB song but it is actually very poetic.
Jazmine Sullivan is a RnB singer that came out in 2008. This song should be counted as a poem because of her amazing use of end rhymes, repetition, and personification. Also her vivid images of average fears people have like animals, heights, and stage fright. Lastly she uses a metaphor to give me new perspective on how scary love is.
In her song she uses end rhymes like me and be, in and friend, and all and fall.
She uses repetition by repeating "I'm not scared of lions, tigers, and bears." She uses personification when she says "Why do we love love when love seems to hate us." All of these examples make great sound for this song .
This song created very vivid images in my mind. For example, when she said "I'm not scared of lions, tigers, and bears. " I imagine her in front of these animals unafraid of them.
Also, when she says "I'm not scared to perform at a sold out affair". this gives me an image of a big concert and her in front of the crowd. Lastly when she says "I can climb mountains." This gives me an image of her climbing a tall mountain. All of these examples show good imagery.
This song gives me a new perspective on how scary love is.
Most likely I would have not though of love being as scary as lion or climbing mountains but she does. This song made me think of why love is so scary and why she compared it to fears most people have. It made me think of the heart ache that can out of love if it does not turn out right.
Lions, tigers, an bears seems like a regular RnB song but it is very deep.
Her great use of repetition, end rhymes, and personification gave it a good sound. She creates good images of things most people are afraid of. Lastly, she gave me a new perspective on peoples fears of love. All these examples lead me to believe this is a great poem even though it is a song.

Is Lil Wayne The Best
On the question of Lil Wayne being the best rapper in the industry, there were very different responses from people I have interviewed. For example Antoine, Annie and myself do not like Lil Wayne. Antoine quoted that Lil Wayne is not the best and Young Jeezy is because he speaks the truth. Annie said ''he sucks''. I said that he makes no sense to me. But on the other hand there are people who feel he is the best rapper. For example Derron said '' Lil Wayne is hot he is fire''. Camille said '' yes i love him he is funny''. In conclusion there are people that love Lil Wayne and there are people that don't. From my evidence more people though he was not the best rapper in the industry.

OBAMA IS PRESIDENT
Obama being president means alot to me. I went with my mom and sister to vote it was a very special and intense moment. I have not been alive for even two decades but i know our economy is in dire need of change. I feel Obama is going to do our nation good. I know people in my neighborhood feel the same way. On the night Obama was announced president the people in my community came to 47th and Baltimore to celebrate this history changing event. There was a massive crowd of people dancing in the streets screaming "Obama" and "America's first black president"! I also screamed Obama on the top of my lungs, cried, and danced in the middle of the street. It got to the point were trolleys and cars could not get by. Everyone just did not care about traffic when Obama just became president. When a passage was cleared for the cars and trolleys people banged against the windows screaming Obama! I stayed out until 1:00 am but the celebration went on long after that.

Animal Farm as a satire final draft
George Orwell could not speak his mind so he used the power of writing to speak his mind. It was written in the end of Lenin's rule and the beginning of Stalin's rule. Orwell uses irony, symbolism, and exaggeration to make animal farm an effective satire.
First Orwell uses irony to always keep the reader guessing. old major died in the beginning of the story. everyone loved old major. The irony in this was that readers would have though old major would have lived to see the rebellion but he didn't. snowball was run out of the farm. snowball was a nice leader he was teaching the animals how to read. the irony in this was that readers would have though snowball would have became leader but instead he was run out of the farm. Boxer had a terrible death. Boxer's two slogans were "napoleon is always right and i will work harder". The irony in this was that he was taken to a slaughter house when readers would have though he would have gotten to rest. Overall orwell used old major, boxer's deaths and snowballs forced exit to add irony to this story.

Then Orwell used symbolism to show readers what happens in real life. the whole story animal farm is a symbol. It showed us americans how russia was during world war 2. animal farm is a symbol for the terrible rule of stalin in russia. napoleon was the ruler of animal farm as stalin was the ruler of russia. napoleon killed lots of animals as stalin killed lots of people. the animals are a symbol of stalin's followers. the were made illeterate and dumb. in the story napoleon changed several commandments and the animals could not tell because the could not read.using animal farm overall, napoleon and the animals showed symbolism for what happened in russia.
Last Orwell used exaggeration to get his point across about what happens in real life. The animals were very gullible. the animals believed anything squeler said. In the story when the commandments were changed the animals did not protest because they believed squeler. the animals killings were very brutal. the descriptions of the animals killings were very detailed and exagerrated. in the story animals would confess to things and killed. Boxer's death was very morose. he was sent to a slaughter house to boiled down to make glue. the animals were lied to by squeler and told that boxer was sent to a hospital. despite the fact that they saw the van they still believed squeler. the exaggeration of the animals stupidity and the emphasis on the animals deaths showed the terrible conditions in rusia.
Using exaggeration, irony, andand symbolism george orwell criticized the conditions in russia.
The lesson to be learned from this story is that we should be careful on who we elect. we should elect leaders we can trust. we need to be aware of the changes our leader makes.
